Opponent Score   Summary
Ontario Western 4-0     The Canyon Hills 11 years olds started their tournament season with a 4-0 victory over Ontario Western.  A second inning 2-out RBI single by Matt Orris scored Brett Burton, who had previously doubled, to give Canyon Hills an early 1-0 lead.  In the third, Glenn Riley and Tim Rangel scored on a double from Andrew Santoyo.  Riley, 2 for 3 in the game, added an RBI in the 6th with a sacrifice fly to score Burton again, giving Canyon Hills their 4-0 lead.
Rangel threw just 66 pitches in gaining the complete game 2-hit shutout, striking out 6, while walking only 2.

Chino National 9-14    The Canyon Hills 11 years olds came out swinging in their second game, jumping to an early 4-1 lead over Chino National in the first inning.  Brett Burton, Glenn Riley, and Tim Rangel continued to spark the offense with consecutive singles in the first.  Andrew Santoyo added 2 more RBI's to his total with a double, and Sean Fanning drove in Rangel with another single.  Santoyo then scored on a passed ball.
The lead was short lived though as Chino National scored 3 to tie in the top of the second.  After Chino National scored 3 more in the third, Canyon Hills drew within one run at 7-6 in the bottom of the inning as Rangel walked and Santoyo reached base on an error, with one run scoring on another Chino National miscue and then Matt Orris adding another RBI with a sacrifice fly.
Six runs in the 4th and another in the 6th put the game out of reach for Canyon Hills.  Despite adding runs from Rangel and Fanning in the 5th, the 11 year olds could not overcome some shaky defense and big hits from Chino National.  Fanning pitched the final 2 innings, allowing just 1 run in trying to keep the game within reach.

Ontario Eastern 4-0     In a fierce pitching duel, the Canyon Hills 11 years olds once again won behind a 2-hit, 4-0 shutout performance from Tim Rangel, this time versus Ontario Eastern.  Through the first three innings, neither team could gain an advantage in a 0-0 tie.  For Canyon Hills, only Rangel reached base with a second inning walk, while Ontario Eastern's pitcher got their only two hits in trying to start rallies in the first and third, but to no avail.
With two outs in the fourth, Rangel again walked.  Andrew Santoyo then delivered his third RBI double in 3 games to give Canyon Hills a 1-0 lead.  Rangel responded to gaining the lead by striking out the side in the bottom of the fourth.  An RBI single from Trevor Morgan in the fifth inning, scored Sean Fanning and gave the team a 2-0 lead.  Following another 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the fifth, Canyon Hills added 2 more runs in the 6th behind RBIs from Matt Orris and Sean Fanning which scored Brett Burton and Santoyo.
Rangel finished the game with 7 strikeouts, including 2 in the final inning, while walking 3 in the 100 pitch performance.

Montclair 2-3     In another tightly pitched game, the Canyon Hills 11 year olds fell to Montclair.  Starting quickly, Canyon Hills opened the game with singles from Chris Vega and Daniel Diaz, and an RBI grounder from Glenn Riley, but couldn't capitalize further.  The 1-0 lead held up into the bottom of the third inning when Montclair capitalized on an error to score two runs.
Bouncing back in the fourth inning, Canyon Hills tied the game following walks to Sean Fanning and Brett Burton, combined with Michael Esse being hit by a pitch and Kenton Tse driving in Fanning with an RBI ground out.  But with two outs in the bottom of the fourth, Montclair regained the lead with a two-out single followed by a double.  Unable to mount another rally, Canyon Hills was eliminated from the tournament.
Diaz pitched the complete game for Canyon Hills, allowing 6 hits while striking out 5 and walking only 1, totaling 79 pitches.  Tim Rangel added a third inning double to the team's offensive efforts, while Fanning and Burton each singled during the game as Canyon Hills put runners on base in 5 of 6 innings.
