Canyon Hills opened up against Chino National Little League. Chino National took a 1-0 lead in
the bottom of the second inning on a run-scoring single. Canyon Hills bounced back in the top of
the third inning when Jordan Robinson had a two-out single followed by a run-scoring double by Matt
Orris to tie the game at 1-1.
In the top of the 4th inning with the score tied 1-1, Canyon Hills had runners at 1st and 3rd with
one out when a wild pitch scored Ryan Salas from 3rd.
In the 5th inning, Canyon Hills added to their lead when Jordan Robinson had a monstrous two-run
home run over the center field fence, putting Canyon Hills up 4-1. Some additional hits, walks,
aggressive base running and a big two-run double by Riley Sissung ended the top half of the 5th
inning with Canyon Hills leading 7-1.
In the top of the 6th inning, Canyon Hills added four additional runs with hits by Blake Wallace
and Spencer Wallace.
Daniel Diaz threw a terrific game for Canyon Hills, striking out 8 in 5 solid innings. Diaz gave
up only 4 hits and 1 walk in an eighty pitch outing. Jordan Robinson pitched the final inning,
striking out two. Both pitchers were backed by solid defense, particularly in the infield.

Canyon Hills played their second game vs. host league Upland National, who was opening with their
first game of the tournament. Upland National got on the board first in the third inning with
consecutive doubles, going up 2-0. Upland National added another run in the fourth inning, bringing
their lead to 3-0. Jonah Sandoval started and threw four innings, doing an effective job of
keeping Upland National off-balance.
Riley Sissung came in the fifth inning and struck out 3 hitters. Canyon Hills was no hit until
the bottom of the fifth inning, then the excitement kicked in for Canyon Hills. Ryan Salas and Levi
Vargas drew walks. Sissung singled to center with Ryan Salas just beating the play at home,
moving the runners to second and third. Upland National got the second out in the inning on a
pop-up, setting the stage for Jordan Robinson. Robinson hit the second pitch thrown to him over the
left center field fence for a towering three-run home run that put Canyon Hills up 4-3.
Upland National drew a leadoff walk in the top of the 6th inning, however
they stranded him at 3rd.
Sissung pitched a solid sixth inning to preserve the win.
Canyon Hills played strong defensively throughout the game, including solid plays by Spencer
Wallace in centerfield and a running backhanded catch by Derick Toyota on a ball hit to the wall in
right center. Daniel Diaz played solid defense at shortstop and Sean Ward and Blake Wallace were tough
behind the plate, with Wallace recording the last out of the game on a popup in foul ground.

In a showdown of unbeaten teams, Canyon Hills went up against
Ontario Western, both 2-0 in the District 23 tournament. Daniel Diaz started for Canyon Hills and struck out
the side in the top of the 1st. Canyon Hills put a run on the board in the bottom of the 1st inning when
Jordan Robinson doubled and went to third on an errant throw. Diaz then singled Robinson home. Canyon Hills
upped the lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning when Spencer Wallace doubled with Robinson singling him
home with one out.
Chino National cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the 4th inning. But, in the bottom of the 5th inning,
Canyon Hills erupted, scoring five runs. Robinson led off with a walk, Diaz singled, and Blake
Wallace reached on a fielder's choice, forcing Diaz. Matt Orris grounded to third but a wild throw ended up along
the right field fence sending Orris all the way to third, scoring Robinson and Wallace. Orris
then scored on a wild pitch, clearing the bases. Sean Ward walked, Marcus Casillas singled and
Spencer Wallace knocked in two more RBIs with a single to score Ward and Brandon Nixon (pinch-running for Casillas),
upping the Canyon Hills lead to 7-2.
Diaz threw a complete game, allowing only three hits and one walk, while striking out 9 hitters. Derick Toyota and
Robinson provided strong defensive support, with Toyota making a nice catch in right field and Robinson making several
plays at 3B.
Canyon Hills' next opponent is Upland Foothill on July 7th, with the winner advancing to the
District 23 Championship Finals.

Canyon Hills faced Upland Foothill in a showdown
of unbeaten teams. Both teams were 3-0 and were the only undefeated teams remaining in the 10-11
year old division. Upland Foothill was coming off big wins in their three previous games.
Canyon Hills got on the board first in the top of the first inning. Jordan Robinson had a leadoff
single and advanced around third on a passed ball and wild pitch.
With one out, Daniel Diaz singled Robinson home.
Jonah Sandoval was the starting pitcher for Canyon Hills. Upland Foothill tied the game at 1-1
in the bottom of the first when the leadoff hitter reached on an infield single. He advanced to
second on a passed ball and reached third on an infield out. He then scored on a wild pitch.
Canyon Hills and Upland Foothill both went out quickly in the second inning. In the top of the
third, Sandoval walked and Brandon Nixon pinch ran. With one out, Riley Sissung
reached on an infield single and Diaz walked, bringing Blake Wallace to the plate with the
bases loaded. On a 1-2 count, Wallace hit a hard shot to second that the second baseman bobbled,
then quickly threw home, however Nixon just beat the throw, giving Canyon Hills a 2-1 lead.
Upland Foothill hung tough, tying the score in the bottom of the inning. The leadoff hitter
singled then advanced to third on a couple of wild pitches. He then scored on an infield single.
Neither team scored in the fourth inning. In the top of the 5th inning with no one out, Robinson hit
his 3rd home run of the tournament over the center field fence on a 3-2 pitch putting Canyon Hills
ahead 3-2. Upland
Foothill went out quickly on 9 pitches in the bottom of the fifth inning.
In the top of the 6th inning, Canyon Hills put two runners on with a Levi Vargas single and a
Sandoval single but were unable to capitalize. In the bottom of the 6th inning, Sandoval
retired the first out with Wallace making a nice running catch on a liner to right field. The
second hitter struck out bringing up the cleanup hitter, who doubled off the wall in left field.
With 2 outs, Sandoval induced a comeback grounder to record the final out, giving Canyon Hills an
exciting and hard fought 3-2 victory.
Sandoval pitched a complete game, giving up 5 hits, no walks and striking out 6. He threw 83
pitches, 60 for strikes in a terrific performance. He was backed by outstanding defense from
an infield of Marcus Casillas and Sissung at first, Matt Orris at second, Diaz at shortstop and
Robinson at third, with Wallace making several good plays in right field.
Canyon Hills advances to the District 23 Championship game!
