In their opening game, a rematch of the 2009 District 23 Seniors Championship, the Canyon Hills Senior All-Stars scored a hard fought 5-4 victory over Creekside Ranch.

Getting a quick start, Canyon Hills got on the board in the top of the first inning scoring two runs, as Joey Antos and Geoff Horita both crossed the plate after collecting hits. Antos then took the mound and pitched a tremendous game. However, Creekside Ranch pushed across unearned runs in the second and fourth innings, surrounding a solo home run in the third, to take a 3-2 lead going into the fifth.

Brett Burton then led off the fifth with a home run to tie the game. Steven Goytia followed with a single, and after being sacrificed over to second by Antos, scored on Horita's third single of the game, giving Canyon Hills a 4-3 lead. Tim Rangel increased the lead to 5-3 with a home run leading off the sixth inning.

Creekside Ranch then fought back with a home run in the sixth, and got two runners on base to start the seventh inning. With one out and runners on the corners, Creekside Ranch's runner on third tried to score on a comebacker to Antos. Antos fielded the ball and threw to Rangel at the plate to get the second out of the inning, and then got the final out on a fly ball to Trevor Monahan to end the game.

Antos pitched a complete game on 77 pitches, striking out 2 and picking off 2. Steller defensive plays by Matt Orris and Jake Weiss helped to keep the game close throughout.
